Cannabis seed buying guide
Quick answer: Pick the seed type first (feminized, autoflowering or regular), then the potency profile (THC, CBD or balanced), then check flowering time, height and indoor/outdoor suitability against your space. Always check your local laws before buying.
Feminized, autoflower or regular?
Feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants only, so there are no males to identify and remove. Most home growers start here. Autoflowering seeds switch to flowering based on age rather than light cycle, so they finish faster and stay smaller — useful for short seasons and small spaces. Regular seeds produce both male and female plants and are mainly chosen by breeders who want to make their own crosses.
THC, CBD or balanced?
Seed listings usually give an expected THC and CBD range. High-THC strains focus on potency; CBD-rich strains are bred for high CBD and low THC; balanced strains sit in between. Treat published percentages as breeder estimates — results vary with growing conditions.
Indica, sativa or hybrid?
These labels describe plant structure and the effects people commonly report. Indica-leaning plants tend to be shorter and bushier; sativa-leaning plants grow taller with longer flowering times. Most modern strains are hybrids, and the listing will usually give the ratio.
What to compare on a seed listing
- Flowering time — weeks of flowering for photoperiod strains, or total seed-to-harvest days for autoflowers.
- Height and yield — check these against your space.
- Indoor or outdoor suitability — and, for outdoor, your climate and season length.
- Pack size and price per seed — larger packs usually cost less per seed; watch for multi-buy promotions.
- Shipping and germination policies — read the retailer’s terms before ordering.
Check the law first
Cannabis seed laws differ by country and US state. Flower of Heaven is for adults 21+ where lawful; check your local rules before buying, receiving or germinating seeds.
